Condition

The canvas appears to be original. There appears to be an old puncture to the lower right corner, that has been sensitively restored, and some minor associated paint losses. There are a small number of fine lines of reticulation in the white pigment towards the left edge above the magenta streak and a small number of further very fine lines of reticulation in other areas of white pigment. There is a very faint scratch measuring 7cm. towards the lower left corner. There are a couple of small flecks of loss along the lower horizontal edge and several areas of loss to impasto areas including to an impasto tip towards the lower right corner in the blue and white square, to a horizontal streak of white near the centre and towards the right edge in the centre. There is some light surface dust. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in overall very good condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence and possible retouching towards the lower right corner, in line with the aforementioned repaired puncture. The work is floated in a simple painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding this work.
