Condition
Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There is a slight undulation to the canvas in the top left corner and a very slight irregularity to the weave in the lower third of the canvas. There is an area of historic loss to the dark blue impasto towards the right edge in the centre. There is one further historic flattening of impasto to the purple and black pigments just to the bottom left of the central scissor-like form and possibly one or two further minor instances of flattening to impasto tips visible elsewhere. There are a small number of very fine, isolated lines of reticulation including to the blue pigment towards the left edge near the centre. There are one or two very small flecks of paint loss including to the purple pigment just below the central scissor-like feature. There is light surface dirt and instances of studio matter throughout, and scuffs and handling marks to the edges. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in overall very good condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals some small spots of retouching in both of the upper corners.
The work is unframed.
