Dublin, The Dawson Gallery, Patrick Heron: Gouaches, 15th February - 1st March 1967, cat. no.18.

Condition

Not examined out of the frame. The sheet appears sound. The sheet appears to be adhered to the mount in several places, but does not appear to be laid down. The edges of the sheet are deckled. There is a spot of loss to the pink gouache in the lower left quadrant. There are some lines of craquelure to the maroon gouache at the upper left corner, with one or two small flecks of associated loss, and some fine lines of craquelure to one of the thicker areas of gouache in the yellow circle. There are some very fine lines of craquelure to a couple of spots of the orange gouache beneath the yellow circle, with some extremely tiny flecks of associated loss, and one or two further losses to the orange at the centre of the lower horizontal edge. There are some speckles of surface dirt and some instances of studio detritus, and a spot of slight discolouration in each of the upper corners, possibly as a result of adhesive on the reverse of the sheet. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition, with strong and fresh colours throughout. The work is float mounted and presented in a painted wooden frame, held under glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
