Condition

Unexamined out of frame. The sheet is secured with adhesive tabs in all four corners. There are a small number of minor nicks to the left edge of the sheet and some possible staining from old adhesive at the extreme lower right corner. There are some minor creases towards the lower right corner, and a further crease visible towards the lower centre. There is some undulation throughout. There are some spots of studio detritus to the sheet, most noticeable at the right edge. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in overall very good condition. The work is float mounted and held behind glass in a simple painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.

Catalogue Note

‘Drawing keeps one fit, like physical exercises – perhaps like water to a plant – and it lessens the danger of repeating oneself and getting into a formula. It enlarges one’s repertoire, one’s form experience.’

Henry Moore, quoted in Philip James (ed.), Henry Moore on Sculpture, MacDonald, London, 1968, p.146.
