Condition

Illustration is accurate. Good overall condition. There are two vertical shrinkage cracks on each lateral sides. Some later gilt-bronze mounts have been added in a later period and these mounts have now been removed. Two were located at the top of each front corners. The horizontal moldings on the these corners have been partially cut to fit the later mounts. The mounts have probably been regilt when the later mounts were added. These gilding is now slightly tarnished as visible on the illustration. There as been a slight restoration on each mahogany rectangular molding between the upper drawers. Very nice and impressive commode with imposing legs.

Catalogue Note
