Description

  • Cloisonne
standing foursquare with head turned backwards, the trunk curled upwards between the tusks, the trappings and harness detailed with cloisonné enamels and inlaid with hardstones, the saddle cloth brightly decorated in enamels with magnolia blooms above waves on a turquoise ground, a cluster of leafy lingzhi stems forming a support on the animal's back

Condition

The elephant is in overall good condition. Some of the inlays may have been replaced, and there are areas of loss and and pitting to the cloisonne enamels.There are also the expected dents and casting flaws to the surface of the bronze.
