folio (312 x 208mm.), title printed in red above a woodcut of Vergil and others, woodcut initials and illustrations (some woodcuts with occasional red colouring), woodcut printer's device beneath colophon, contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards by Erhart Herold of Erfurt (EBDB w002589, active c. 1485-1529), metal corners, two clasps, later morocco lettering-pieces, annotation in red ink on b7v, bibliographical notes in Latin (by Evans?) on inside front cover, lacking N4-5 (in Georgics III) and T5-6 (in Aeneid I), title-page crudely repaired on verso, B6 torn in text without loss, a few marginal tears, lower corner of e5 torn away, occasional light soiling, lacking one strap

FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION of the works of Vergil, together with the apocryphal works and Maffeo Vegio's thirteenth book of the Aeneid. The woodcuts are attributed to the Late Master of the GrĂ¼ninger Workshop.
