first edition, presentation copy, inscribed by livingstone on front fly-leaf ("Mr. White | with | the best wishes of | David Livingstone | 1st Dec 1857.") The account of Livingstone's three great expeditions in Africa. "The Geographical results of his journeys were of supreme importance, and made it possible to fill in great stretches of the maps of Central Africa, which hitherto had been blank" (PMM).
