Condition

Overall very good condition. When viewed in person the shade presents with a highly naturalistic selection of striated and mottled glass to depict the foliage and snowball (viburnum) blossoms in opalescent, cobalt, cerulean, and vibrant green hues. The shade with approximately 25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, which is to be expected considering the vast number of individual pieces of glass required to execute a shade of this scale and complexity. The shade with some surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The shade with 5 tiles which appear to have been reset and replaced with complementary period Tiffany glass, not visually detractive and only visible upon close inspection. The base in very good condition and displays with a rich variegated green and brown patina. The bronze surfaces with scattered surface scratches, abrasions, discolorations and a few scattered small losses to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. One foot with a small area of white house paint. All sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a period pigtail finial with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, a few shallow dents, and minor traces of oxidation. The pigtail with a few very small areas of patina loss. A very impressive and dramatic example of the model presenting with a highly naturalistic and richly colored glass selection. The glass selection displays vigorous mottling throughout, imparting the shade with strong visual movement and depth. The overall sense is highly impressionistic, evoking sun dappled light on the viburnum blossoms.
