Condition
Overall very good condition. The turtle-back tiles appear original and undisturbed and present with intense jewel-toned iridescence under reflected light. When viewed with remitted light, the glass illuminates in warm apple and kelly green tones. One turtle-back with a very small tight hairline crack extending downward from the right top edge approximately 1 1/2 inches, stable. The two Turtle-Back tiles are plated on the interior with white glass to enhance the shade’s visual depth. These interior glass plates appear original and undisturbed and are in very good condition. All base jewels appear original and undisturbed with some occasional minor surface scratches and surface soiling to the recessed contours of the settings. The bronze surfaces in good condition with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, minor rubbing to the high points of the design and with some minor surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. The exterior and interior bronze surfaces of the shade with minor traces of oxidation. One of the side knobs on the shade with a small gear switch which is locked in place. The base arms are very slightly bent, not visually detractive. The base switch appears to be original and presents with a few small specks of white house paint. The socket appears original and undisturbed. A wonderfully ornate and refined design, ideal for use as a desk lamp.
