Condition

Overall very good condition. The shade with approximately 23 cracks to the glass tile dispersed throughout, all stable. The shade with some light surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The Twisted Vine base is in very good condition with minor surface scratches, abrasions, and some scattered minor discolorations. The foot of the base is decorated with a charming floral border that is very well executed. A gorgeous example of this complex shade model displaying an exceptionally artistic and thoughtful glass selection. The rare “Twisted Vine” floor base is a highly complementary pairing, making the scale of the lamp approachable and refined, and enhancing the naturalistic sensibility of the lamp. All sockets appear original and undisturbed. With a later reproduction finial. When viewed in person the shade presents with a far more nuanced glass selection than seen in the catalogue photographs, which do not sufficiently capture the true luminosity and radiance of the shade. The shade displays a superb variation of glass to articulate the laburnum blossoms, ranging from warmer orange-yellows to softer pastel yellows around the circumference. The background passages are executed with a fine selection of striated and semi-transparent violet and aquamarine, which create wonderful visual contrast with the laburnum blossoms.
