Condition

The painting appears to have been recently conserved, presenting a fresh and detailed image. It retains some of its original impasto beneath a clear varnish. The canvas has an old glue relining and is stable and taut on its stretcher. Inspection under UV reveals recent feathered retouching scattered in the sky, concentrated in the upper right corner and surrounding the architecture at left. There is an old repaired puncture of approx. 1 cm. in the architecture just left of center, the repair for which is visible on the reverse of the canvas. There is possible older strengthening to the darks in the water along the lower edge. The painting is ready to hang, offered in a carved gilt wood frame,
