Condition

The painting is executed on three pieces of wood which are brought together by two vertical joins. The reverse of the panel is cradled, flat, stable, and beveled. Overall this picture presents well to the naked eye. It appears to have been cleaned in the past few years and could probably be hung in its current state. UV light reveals small scattered but cosmetic retouches in the sitters forehead, cheeks, lips and jaw line as well as in her ruff collar. Small retouches, as expected, are found along the two vertical joins though these are extremely minimal other small retouches are found in the sitters forearm and along the book at lower left. Painting is in a black ebonized frame with gold liner.
