Description
- Apollonio Facchinetti, called Domenichini, formerly known as the Master of the Langmatt Foundation Views
- Venice, a view of the Grand Canal
- oil on canvas
Condition
The sky is a deeper blue than it appears in the printed catalogue image. The canvas appears to be unlined or very thinly relined. Overall the paint surface has been well retained and there is very nice detail throughout. A couple of discolored old retouchings can be seen in architecture at right side. Under UV light: there is scattered retouching throughout the sky with a larger area at the middle right edge in the sky and the distant buildings. Others, though fewer, can be seen here and there in architecture and water. This painting is presentable and can be hung as is.
In a carved and gilt wood frame with a piece of the inner lower right edge missing.
