From whom acquired in 1980 by the present collector.
Condition
The painting overall presents an attractive image and the foreground figures retain their detail. The canvas has a modern glue relining. There is a small puncture (approx. 1/2 by 1/2 in.) in sky upper center with some associated losses and an area of discoloration in the background beneath. Inspection under UV reveals extensive retouching throughout the background and strengthening to the palace, figures and foliage. The aforementioned puncture could be filled and retouched but the painting is otherwise ready to hang in its present state.
Offered in a decoratively carved gilt wood frame.
