Ganet, Paris;
With Wildenstein & Co., New York;
Where acquired by Mr. and Mrs. O. Roy Chalk, New York;
Thence by descent to to the present owner.

Condition

The painting is on panel which has been marouflaged. The painting is under an uneven old vanrish and the very upper 1.5 in. has an older more yellowed layer of varnish. Overall the paint surface and details of the figure and foliage are well retained. There is a very minor filled loss to the red underskirt, lower center. Inspection under UV is hindered by the old varnish though reveals minor scuffs along the edges from frame rubbing. The painting could be hung as is but would probably benefit from a light clean and revarnish. Offered in an elaborately carved gilt wood frame.
