Condition

Please note that the image in the printed catalogue is much darker than the painting. Please refer to the image in the online catalogue or inquire within the department for high resolution image. The painting is on a single, uncradled but stable panel with a slight vertical bow. The images reads well beneath clear varnish and retains good detail in areas such as in her jeweled headpiece. The hair at her right, however, has lost some detail. There are some faint vertical circles visible in upper quadrant and along the lower edge, but these are in no way distracting. Inspection under UV reveals inpainting to address aforementioned cracks, some scattered small spots in her face and body and a spot in her upper chest. What appears to be some additional possible retouching is visible in her hair at right and in the dark background at upper left. Offered in a darkwood frame with elaborate decorative metal border and inlaid with blue stone.
