Canvas appears to be unlined or very thinly relined. The surface is clean and the painting is presentable. The paint surface is very slightly pressed and there is some thinness in the background browns, but overall the painting still reads very well and presents a lovely and decorative image. Examination under UV light reveals scattered retouches in the white and gold draperies. There are very some small retouches scattered on her body, mostly on the left buttock, and a couple of small ones in her hair. A few isolated ones can be seen on the figure of the old woman and others scattered here and there in background areas. These have been well applied and there is no need for further work. Painting can be hung as is. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with minor nicks.
