Condition

This panel is comprised of two boards which are brought together by a single vertical join. The panel is cradled on the reverse and is also flat and stable. The painting presents a striking image to the naked eye and also appears to be in a healthy condition. UV light reveals that the red background has been almost universally painted over as it does fluoresce differently than the rest of the composition. There are a couple of other more minor Restorations in the composition in the figural group at lower left, but these are mostly cosmetic and are not disturbing to the naked eye. It is unclear why the red background would have been painted over and it would be best to consult a professional restore for their opinion. In a carved black wood frame with gold liner
