Condition
Oil on canvas, not lined. The surface is in overall good condition aside from a stable web of barely perceptible craquelure and minor frame abrasion at the extreme edges, visible along the lower edge in the current framing. Under UV light, the varnish fluoresces green and has been unevenly cleaned. There are two dots of retouching visible in the center of the back of the figure with his back to the viewer; a few additional dots of retouching are visible in the floor beneath his feet. Additional scattered dots of retouching are visible near the left upper edge in the ceiling and in the shadows between the two men at center's heads.
