Condition

Oil on canvas, unlined. There is an old, wax strip-lining and a small patch at lower left on the verso. There is a small pinhole in the woman's hat at right. The surface is in overall good condition aside from surface dirt and dust. Under UV light, there is green fluorescing varnish over the figures and cares. The brown pigments at upper left have been painted over the varnish. Under UV light, there are scattered dots of retouching in the sky and along the extreme edges. A 1 inch area of retouching in the lower right quadrant above the artist signature corresponds to the patch on the reverse. The majority of the automobiles and figures remain covered by a green fluorescing varnish. Additional small dots and dashes of fluorescence are visible over this green varnish, and may be related to the artists working method.
