  • oil on canvas

Provenance

The Parker Gallery, London (according to a label on verso)

Condition

Oil on canvas, lined. The surface has been flattened by the lining but is in overall good condition with a clean, fresh appearance. A shadow of the stretcher bar mark is visible in the sky along the right edge. A few small pin-dot sized accretions are scattered in the sky at left center. Some evidence of pigment separation in the blues and greens of the water and in the more thickly painted passages of the white boat sails. Under UV light, there is retouching along the left and right edges in the sky, along the top edge, and a large area in the sky at upper left. A few additional scattered dots and dashes of retouching are visible in the sky. Additional minor scattered dots of retouching visible at the lower left corner. Overall the work presents well and is ready to hang in its current condition.
