Condition

Oil on canvas, lined. The picture surface is somewhat thin and has been flattened by the lining, especially in the center of the sky. There is a stable web of widely spaced craquelure over the picture surface. Under UV light, the majority of the work is covered by a green fluorescing varnish, though the sky above the figure at left has been cleaned. There is retouching, especially address craquelure, in the figure at right.
