Provenance

Condition

Oil on cradled panel. The picture surface, while somewhat thinly painted, is in overall good condition. Evidence of a panel crack across the upper third and lower third of the work with associated retouching visible to the naked eye. There are small nicks and abrasions at the extreme edges including a nail mark at lower right and some remnants of gold paint along the lower edge. A few small scattered dents to the panel throughout the work. Under UV light, the varnish fluoresces green. The afore- mentioned retouches along the panel cracks are visible as are additional scattered retouches, mainly in the sky and in the buildings to the left of the temple.
