Of cylindrical design and fluted pattern, the thumbpiece set with brilliant-cut diamonds and a baguette ruby, opening to reveal a mirror, a powder compartment, a lipstick holder, and a cigarette compartment on the other part; both sides decorated with floral motifs set with oval rubies and single-cut diamonds, measuring approximately 116 x 47 x 39mm, signed Cartier, numbered, French assay and maker's marks, gross weight approximately 300 grams.

Rubies estimated to weigh a total of approximately 1.75 - 2.25 carats, well matched in colour, purplish red of medium strong saturation, with typical inclusions, small scratches, abrasions and nicks. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 2.75 - 3.25 carats, on average G-H colour, VS-SI clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Tortoiseshell panel in overall good condition. Mirror in overall good condition. Signs of normal wear to the metal consistent with use. In very good condition. Total gross weight approximately 300 grams.
