Sale, Phillips London, 7th March 2000, lot 119, where acquired by the present owner

Condition

The card appears sound. The card has been attached to the mount with tape around all four edges. There is craquleure to some of the gouache in places, with some resultant flecks of loss, most apparent but not limited to the figures of the two children, the veil of the woman, and to the light blue pigment on the left. There is also some craquelure and small flecks of loss to the ink in places. There is some discolouration and staining to the card in places, and there are some small speckles of mould to the work. The work is window mounted and presented in an ornate gilt frame, held under glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
