Description

  • Patrick Hughes
  • A Real Illusion
  • signed, titled and dated 1996 on the reverse
  • oil on shaped board
  • 60 by 108 by 31cm.; 23¾ by 42½ by 11¾in.

Provenance

Flowers Gallery, London, where acquired by the present owner, circa 1998

Condition

The board appears sound. There is some rubbing and some minor scuffing to some of the protruding edges of the shaped board, with some small associated flecks of loss, including some rounding to the lower left corner of the central protruding element, with associated loss. There is some light surface dirt in places to the work. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a possible tiny speck of retouching to the leftmost protuding element, just to the right of the lower tip, in line with a small scuff. There is also some fluorescence to the work, which is thought to be in keeping with the Artist's materials. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame.
