small 4to (181 x 130mm.), FIRST EDITION, portrait frontispiece, title with woodcut ornament, nineteenth-century calf decorated in period style, spine decorated in blind in compartments, titled and dated in gilt, gilt dentelles, red edges, binding a little worn at extremities with some light soiling

Catalogue Note

Previously attributed to his older brother, this biography was actually the work of George Cavendish, who entered into service with Cardinal Wolsey in 1522 and remained an intimate member of the household until Wolsey’s death in 1530.
