Chancery folio (316 x 218mm.), 191 leaves (of 195), [a12 b-i10 k6 l10+1 m-t10 v6], 35 lines, gothic type, 4- and 7-line initials in blue or green with red penwork decoration, 2-line initials in red, a few early manuscript signatures, nineteenth-century German half calf over marbled boards, some deckle edges, lacking last 4 leaves (2 text leaves, 2 blanks), [o3] with a small scrape affecting a couple of letters, binding slightly rubbed, joints splitting at head

Dr Georg Kloss (1787-1854), of Frankfurt am Main, bookplate and with his Panzer reference, sale, Sotheby's, 11 May 1835, lot 1008; £2-2-0, price written in pencil on inside front cover; loosely inserted is a receipt from the London bookseller William Ridler, made out to Judge O'Brien, dated 23 December 1893, for this book (see introduction)
