On the blank leaves at the front of the volume is written a tract by Jean Gerson, Epistola... pro confortatione cuiusdam tentati, in a contemporary hand, 4pp., which is included in the manuscript list of contents on the flyleaf; at the end is another letter by Gerson, addressed to his brother Nicolas, beginning "[F]rater secundum carnem germane, in Christo tamen charitate germanior...", 3pp. Loosely inserted is a letter (used for taking notes from the book) with an address panel to Hermann Isaac von Aussem, Drimborn bei Aachen, dated 1781.

The Brothers of the Common Life in Brussels printed books between 1475 and 1485; this was the only printshop in Brussels in the fifteenth century. For another copy of this work by Bonaventura, see lot 64.

Suso's Horologium, written in the mid-fourteenth century, was a very popular spiritual text; hundreds of manuscripts survive, and this is one of the first two editions, both of which were printed in c. 1480. Conrad Winters was active as a printer in Cologne from 1475 to 1482.
