4to (240 x 170mm.), 120 leaves, (1,2)4; a-n8 o12 (table bound at end), double column, 36 lines, gothic type, first heading printed in red, 2- to 4-line initial spaces, early nineteenth-century blind-stamped calf with double gilt fillet border, flat spine gilt with red morocco lettering-piece, blue edges, with a seventeenth-century engraved portrait of Bonaventura loosely inserted, last leaf laid down, joints breaking, extremities slightly rubbed

RARE. We have not been able to trace any recent sale records for this edition. ISTC lists 32 copies.
Bonaventura's account of the life of St Francis was written by 1263 and served as the source for Giotto's frescoes in the upper Basilica in Assisi. This Italian translation was first published in Rome in about 1470.
