4to (192 x 145mm.), woodcut device on title page, woodcut initial, with marginal comments on the text in a sixteenth-century hand in French to 7 pages, numerous other pages with underlinings and marginal markings, old calf, damp staining, some soiling to first and last leaves, small burn hole (P8) and small internal tear (Q4) both with loss of a few letters, marginalia faded, binding rubbed

Catalogue Note

Lanquet's chronology of the world from the Creation - which is placed at 3962 BC - was first published in 1549 as An Epitome of Cronicles. It was continued by Thomas Cooper, successively Bishop of Lincoln and Winchester, and this edition takes the text to 1564.
