Arthur Golding (1535-1606) is known primarily as a translator, and especially for his  translation of Ovid's Metamorphoses, which was used extensively by Shakespeare. He dedicated this work, which was first published in 1564, to his nephew Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford.
