Catalogue Note

This important history of the last of the O'Neill Earls of Tyrone, whose departure into exile as part of the "flight of the earls" in 1607 marked the end of the traditional Gaelic order in Ulster, was written by Thomas Gainsford (1566-1624), an English soldier who fought against Tyrone during his rebellion of the 1590s and met him again in exile.
