Catalogue Note
A FINE COPY.
Now believed to be almost entirely the work of John of Worcester; whilst John has always been identified as an author of the sections of the Worcester chronicle completed after Florence's death in 1118, the attribution of the earlier entries to Florence by early editors is now considered incorrect. However, the "eulogistic obituary" for Florence within the chronicle suggests he "had a part in the compilation of the chronicle, a role that must probably remain undetermined" (ODNB).
