Catalogue Note

Crastone's Vocabulista was the first Latin-Greek word list to be printed (this is a separate work from Crastone's influential Greek-Latin lexicon, Lexicon graeco-latinum, from which it was extracted). It is a much rarer work; we have found no recent sale records for any of the three incunabular editions. Both works were first published in Milan by Bonus Accursius; Bertochus had previously issued both works from his Vicenza press in about 1483.

Bertochus's printing career encompassed many towns: Bologna, Treviso, Vicenza, Venice, Reggio Emilia and Modena. He is noted for his printing of works in Greek. Marcus Antonius Bazaleriis (or Bacileriis) was from a Bolognese family of printers.

This copy has a slip of paper pasted before the flyleaf with some bibliographical notes in English and an extract from a printed catalogue pasted to verso.
