Catalogue Note
Frederick II, who undertook a crusade to the East in 1238, brought back with him several expert falconers and their hawks, and this treatise which he composed about the year 1247 was the first such to appear in the West.
"A classic on hawking, held to be the best and most comprehensive treatise" (Schwerdt).
