Catalogue Note
Du Fouilloux's book on hunting was first published in Poitiers in 1561; this is the first Paris edition which additionally contains an extract from Gaston Phébus's Livre de Chasse. The woodcut on f. 60v illustrates the trompe, a crescent-shaped hunting horn, and the music shows the specific signals to be used at different points during the hunt. This copy contains an additional 2 leaves at the end, "Table des sommaires des chapitres", which was produced for a different edition.
