A GERMAN SPORTING SLURBOW BY JAN SANDER, DATED 1682, with slender iron bow retained by later cords, tiller profusely decorated with engraved staghorn plaques involving marine monsters and foliage enriched with contrasting horn pellets (losses), upper and lower bolt channels the former inlaid en suite and incorporating a panel inscribed 'Ian Sander 682', the butt with carved raised cheekpiece on the left and patchbox with sliding cover involving Diana the huntress on the right, fitted with iron release, iron trigger, iron stirrup and butt plate, and painted with early inventory number 116

A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSBOW, MID-17TH AND 19TH CENTURY, with slender iron bow retained by later cords and fitted with a later string of twisted cord, hardwood tiller profusely inlaid with staghorn tendrils, ball flowers and pellets enclosing engraved staghorn plaques involving bouquets of fruit, a hound and a hunting scene, bone bolt channel, fitted with iron release, iron trigger, iron stirrup and horn buttplate
