Catalogue Note

First edition of Cologne's answer to Hartmann Schedel's Nuremberg Chronicle (see lots 238-239), written in Low German, and with a similarly biased viewpoint.

On folio 311 verso, the introduction of printing ("van der boychdrucker kunst") is discussed, starting with the Latin Bible printed in Mainz in a missal typeface and mentioning several early printers, from "joncker Johan Gudenburch" to Ulrich Zel.
