Condition

This work is ready to hang. This work is still on its original stretcher. The heavy black paint applied throughout the work has developed drying cracks, but this is not an indication of instability. The remainder of the paint is very stable and unaffected by the passage of time. Under ultraviolet light, there are isolated spots in the black color which fluoresce quite strongly. It seems that some of the cracks have been retouched. The restoration is well applied. This particular black color is heavy and lush, and has understandably developed some instability. However, it seems that the paint layer is now secured and looks well. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
