Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The media layer is stable, and the colors are vibrant. The canvas is unlined and well-stretched. A few fine lines of craquelure are present along each of the extreme edges of the canvas, but the paint layer is stable overall. Stretcher marks are present along each of the extreme edges of the canvas. A diagonal two-inch area of fine craquelure is present in the upper left quadrant of the canvas, to the left of the hand of the figure. A three-inch diagonal line of fine craquelure is present in the lower right quadrant, just below the elbow of the figure. A few scattered pinpoint spots of pigment loss are present along the extreme lower edge of the canvas. Under ultraviolet light examination, a varnish becomes apparent. A four-inch fine horizontal line of inpainting becomes apparent in the center right quadrant of the work, across the breasts of the figure.
