the stepped domed bases with applied ovolo rims, chased in high relief with a band of flowers and grapes bound at intervals by foliate straps, tapered cylindrical stems rising from knops chased with matted stiff leaves and buds, simple molded captials, detachable nozzles with die-rolled borders of cornucopiae, oak leaves, acorns, thistles, columnbine, grapes and flowers

B. Ivers (1788-1836) is listed in the New York City Directories in 1820 as a silversmith, at Water corner Scamel Streets; 1825-27 as Bergh & Ivers, 560 Water Street, as brass founders; 1828-29 under the same name at 634 Water Street, as coppersmiths and brass founders; and from 1820-26, Beach Ivers & Co., 409 Cherry Street, brass foundry. His residences were listed in the directories as 272 Harman Street and 259 Henry Street. A spoon marked B.IVERS, dated 1810? is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
American silver candlesticks are rare until the last quarter of the 19th century. From the first quarter of the 19th century survive column candlesticks by Isaac Hutton, Albany, NY, circa 1800-1810, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a French style pair by Chaudron & Rasch, Philadelphia, 1812, in a private collection, illustrated Metropolitan Museum of Art, Nineteenth Century America, Furniture and Other Decorative Arts, 1970, pl. 36.
