  • marked on bases, the first Edward C. Moore for Tiffany, numbered 686-6170, the second numbered 112 and with date letter
  • Silver
  • lengths 9 1/4 , 9 3/4 in.
  • 23.5, 24.8 cm
the first with Greek key border, forked handle rising from an acanthus leaf, the second with foliate border, handle rising from a mask, initialed Gothic M, the other side engraved, "Presented to Mr. & Mrs. David Moss, By their Brothers Ralph & Henry Moss. May 26, 1872."

Catalogue Note

David (b. 1844), Ralph (b. 1840) and Henry (b. 1849) Moss were the children of Solomon Davis Moss and his wife Sophia.  Their father was born in Poland and emigrated to New York, where he was a tailor/draper and pawnbroker, dying in 1866.  His son David was in New York real estate and had twelve children with his wife Annie before his death in 1892.
