Condition

This work is in very good condition. Executed on cream wove paper. Hinged at 2 places to a mount at the upper left and right corners. The sheet is slightly time darkened overall. The pencil and pastel remain bright and fresh.

Catalogue Note

Lucy Hessel was the wife of the artist's notoriously philandering Bernheim-Jeune dealer Jos Hessel, and later became Vuillard's own mistress.
