This work is in very good condition. It features a mottled green and brown patina with minor surface dirt and signs of rubbing throughout, consistent with age.

Catalogue Note

To depict the darker side of human expression, Rodin studied cadavers and patients in psychiatric wards, and to depict creativity he modeled the hands of musicians and fellow artists. His ability to convey the explosive emotion of the human form is seen in small scale in the graceful, delicate touch of these hands.
