Condition

The canvas is unlined. The surface is clean. There is minor craquelure to the white sail on the left. Under UV light: there is retouching along the periphery of the canvas, presumably to address old frame surface abrasion, particularly along the left and top edges. There are a few strokes of inpainting to the center of the sky. There is a horizontal line of inpainting to the figure's hat approximately 5 inches in length. There is some repainting tot he lower right corner and some overpainting to the area which bore the apocryphal signature as discussed in the catalogue note. The artist's own signature which was added in 2017 is present and in good condition, as noted in the catalouge note.
