Condition

This work is in good overall condition. The impasto is rich and the pigments are bright and fresh. The canvas is not lined. The canvas has been re-stretched, possibly by the artist, and the old tacking holes are visible along the upper and right edge of the recto. There is a network of fine horizontal craquelure in the upper half of the composition and a few fine lines of craquelure to the thickest areas of pigment in the lower half. Some small spots of loss are visible in the sky towards the upper right corner. Under UV light, some fluorescence along the upper edge to the old tacking line which is probably original; no retouching is apparent.
