The panel is sound. Examination under UV light reveals a tiny spot of in-painting towards the lower right corner. Some of the original pigments also fluoresce under UV light. The pigments are fresh and bright and this work is in overall very good condition.

The present work is mentioned in the artist's agenda from his 1905 trip to Venice as Etude quartier pescadore. It was probably inspired by the famous fountain in the Campo delle Beccarie, near the market area of Venice.
