Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a layer of varnish which prevents UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light reveals no signs of retouching. There is some craquelure visible, predominantly to the thicker white pigments, and there are some flecks of pigment loss, notably to the blue pigment of the sea at the centre of the composition. There are some small spots of studio dirt in places and the varnish is slightly discoloured. This work is in overall good condition and might benefit from a light clean.
